Reuse
The written articles on this site are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.
You may share and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercially. The condition is attribution: credit Powys Heritage, link back to the source where the format allows, and say if you changed anything.

You do not need to ask permission and there is no fee. If you are making something substantial with it we would like to hear about it, but that is interest rather than a requirement.
What is not ours to license
Some of what appears on this site belongs to other people, and the CC BY licence above does not extend to it.
Cadw designation data and listing descriptions are reproduced under the Open Government Licence v3.0 and carry that licence's own attribution requirement.
Coflein record numbers are cited for reference and the underlying records remain the property of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.
Photographs are licensed individually and each carries its credit and licence in its caption. Check the caption before reusing an image; several are Creative Commons Share-Alike, which imposes conditions the text licence does not.
Quotations from published works are used under fair dealing and remain the copyright of their authors.
The site name, the mark and the visual design are not covered by the content licence.
Accuracy
Every effort is made to be accurate and to say plainly where the evidence is weak. No guarantee is given.
This is a reference resource, not a professional archaeological, planning or legal opinion, and it should not be relied on for development, land management or legal purposes. If a decision turns on it, consult the Historic Environment Record and Cadw directly.

Access and land
Describing a place here is not a statement that you can go and stand in it.
A great many of the sites covered are on private land, and some are within an active military training area. Rights of way, open access land and permissive routes are three different things and only the first two carry a legal right of access. Establishing which applies is the visitor's responsibility.
Do not dig, detect or remove anything from a scheduled monument. Both are criminal offences. Do not enter disused mine workings.
Privacy
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and carries no advertising of any kind. Any traffic statistics collected are aggregated and do not identify individuals.
